  9. Press YES
  10. SSID? will be displayed, press NO
  11. Password? will be displayed, press YES
  12. Enter your WiFi password or Network Key (this is case sensitive)

This is usually caused by faulty equipment or equipment that hasn’t been serviced for a while. Our team has all the necessary testing equipment to quickly diagnose the fault and rectify it for you.

A yellow or amber light normally means a warning or fault (not an alarm activation). Common causes include a low battery, a tamper with the alarm, or a communications issue. If the warning doesn’t clear, note the exact message on the keypad (or take a photo) and send it over.

If you’ve changed your mobile phone, you’ll usually need to reinstall the app and re-pair your account with the alarm communicator. If you get stuck, send us your alarm make/model and a screenshot of the app screen you’re on.

If you’ve recently added or changed a piece of equipment in your system, there’s a chance that it isn’t compatible with your existing system. Just give us a call for advice. We can visit you to either find a solution or recommend a compatible alternative.

Can you help me understand my alarm system?

Yes. We often advise people who have moved home or premises and inherited an alarm for which they have no instructions. In this case, we’d recommend that we visit you, check the alarm for you, and provide advice on how to use it correctly, saving you time, frustration, and inconvenience.

This depends on your panel and user level. Some systems let you add users via the keypad, others via the app or the engineer menu. If this is for staff access, tell us who needs access and whether you want timed access.

You should contact us to remove access as soon as possible, especially if keys/fobs haven’t been returned. If you’re not sure who the code belongs to, we can help you audit and tidy user slots.

Yes. Backup batteries wear out over time. A typical backup battery lasts around 4–5 years, depending on use and environment. If a battery is left longer than this before replacement, it can cause faults and sometimes damage the charger circuit.

I’ve changed my name in the app – why hasn’t it updated?

App profile names don’t always control the device name on the recorder. Some systems store names locally on the NVR/DVR rather than in the app.

Password resets are system-specific and sometimes require a secure reset process. If you’re locked out, send us the recorder’s make/model and a photo of the label (the serial number often helps).

Beeping usually indicates a fault, such as a hard drive issue, camera loss, or network problems. If it’s a hard drive warning, don’t ignore it – it can mean it’s not recording properly.

Many modern cameras can record in colour at night using built-in white light and improved sensors. Some switch from IR (black-and-white) to colour when they detect a person or vehicle.

How many devices can connect to my CCTV system?

Most systems allow multiple devices (phones/tablets) and sometimes additional PC logins, but limits vary by brand and licensing. As a general guideline, you can usually add several family or staff devices without any issues.

Often, yes. Many newer systems can capture clearer night footage, sometimes in colour, and may switch on the lights when they detect a person or vehicle. If night footage is a priority, ask us what your current system supports and what an upgrade would change.

Playback depends on whether you’re using the recorder locally or the mobile app.

In most cases, yes, it reboots automatically. After any power cut, you should still check that the system is recording and cameras are online.

Yes, if motion, human or vehicle detection is enabled in your app/recorder settings. You can usually control what triggers alerts, what areas trigger them, and quiet hours.

Look for a make/model label on the control panel, keypad, recorder (NVR/DVR), or inside the cabinet. If you can’t find it, send us a clear photo of the front and any label so we can help.

Door Entry Systems FAQs:
Troubleshooting & Operational

The door isn’t locking – what should I check?
Common causes include door misalignment, a stuck release button, or a fault on the lock/strike. If you can’t resolve the issue and it’s a security risk, treat it as urgent and contact us.
You should delete the lost fob from the system to prevent unauthorised access. Steps vary by controller and reader type. If you don’t know which fob number was assigned, we can help identify it.

To keep your premises secure, you’ll need to remove their fob/user record straight away. If you want, we can set up roles (staff vs manager) so future changes can be made in a few minutes.

Steps to Change Wi-Fi on a Pyronix Doorbell:

  1. Remove or reset connection: If you are replacing your router or changing your network credentials, ensure your phone is connected to the new 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network (Pyronix doorbells do not support 5GHz bands).

  2. Open the App: Launch the Home Control 2 app on your smart device and log in.

  3. Start Setup: Tap the red plus (+) button at the bottom of the screen.

  4. Select Device: Choose Add video doorbell/camera, then select Doorbell.

  5. Enter Network Details: Type in or verify your new 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password, then tap Continue and Confirm.

  6. Scan QR Code: Point the Pyronix doorbell camera at the QR code displayed on your phone’s screen.

  7. Complete Pairing: Wait for the doorbell to emit a “ding-dong” or beep sound confirming it read the code, tap I Heard a Prompt, and wait 30 to 60 seconds for it to pair and finish.

Fire Alarms & Safety Systems FAQs

The panel is beeping. What does it mean?
It’s usually reporting a fault, battery warning, or device issue. Check the display for the fault code/message, then get in touch. If it’s showing a zone/device reference, your site zone plan will indicate the affected area.

As a baseline, many systems should be serviced at least twice per year (one full service and one interim). Requirements can vary based on system type, building use, and your compliance needs.

Yes. Batteries degrade and should be tested and replaced as part of scheduled maintenance. If you’re seeing repeated battery faults, don’t ignore them, as this can compromise reliability.

Zone or area references usually map to a site plan. If you’ve got a zone plan on site, it should tell you exactly which area the message relates to. If you don’t have one, we can help you create a simple labelled plan.

Change of Provider FAQs

My system isn’t on your website – can you help?
Probably, yes. We can work with most systems, except for Verisure alarms. Verisure is a subscription alarm provider. If you stop paying for the subscription after your contract period, it won’t work anymore. This may have been explained to you when they originally installed it.

Due to our extensive experience, we have experienced most issues before, so yes, we can normally find a solution.

We make everything as easy as possible for our customers. Instead of dealing with a call centre, you deal directly with our installers. We’re reliable and quick to respond, which means you’ll receive a first-class service, which larger companies often struggle to achieve.

Our prices tend to be more competitive than those of the bigger companies. We have lower overheads, which enables us to provide high-quality products and installations at a more reasonable price.

Installation Team FAQs

Are your installers qualified electricians?

Yes, we are NAPIT-accredited, which means we follow the latest British Standard (BS 7671) for electrical installations and have proved competence in the industry. Our work quality, technical skills and safety records are regularly assessed independently. Because we are NAPIT-registered, we can self-certify that our electrical work complies with the Building Regulations, saving you the need to arrange building control inspections yourself.

We are SSAIB-certified installers, which means we have been independently audited by the Security Systems and Alarms Inspection Board. It also validates insurance coverage when insurers require SSAIB-certified providers to install your system. Our certified systems meet National Police Chiefs Council (NPCC) requirements for monitored systems.

With any security system, there is a range of equipment you can choose from to suit different budgets. It can depend on how many access points you have. Our installers are happy to provide you with several budget options to choose from.

Yes, we are time-served electricians, which means we can carry out any additional work that might be needed, such as security lighting or modifications and additions to your existing electrical system.
